Indonesia ambition to become the first country to develop a liquefied natural gas (Liquid Natural Gas / LNG) originating from Coal Bed Methane (CBM).
"We are currently working so that Indonesia could become the first producer of CBM to LNG," said Director General of Oil and Gas, Evita Herawati Legowo at the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, Thursday (25/11/2009).
LNG plans are derived CBM, continued Evita, will be sent to all corners of the country to meet domestic gas demand. LNG Shipping will be done by using small boats.
"This proves that not all LNG for export," he said.
Evita said Indonesia's CBM reserves are very large reaching 453.3 trillion cubic feet (TCF) CBM basin with a total of about 11 fruits. Up to August 2009, the contract already signed CBM approximately 15 CBM Cooperation Contract (KKS).
"Next week a new CBM 5 contracts will be signed," he said.
With starting dieksplorasinya working areas of this CBM, CBM production estimates Evita will continue to increase from year to year. In 2015, CBM production reached 500 mmscfd, in the year 2020 increased to 900 mmscfd and the CBM production in 2025 reached 1500 mmscfd.
"We estimate the average production per well of about 250 mmscfd," he said.
When asked when the development of LNG from the CBM can be realized, Evita can not tell.
